Skiing

Veysonnaz village with its brand new lift, which opened in Winter 2007, has ski access to the 4 Valleys region including access to the world famous and fabulous Verbier ski resort.

In the same building as the Veysonnaz telecabin you will find a brand new ski hire shop, see www.onthemountain.ch, www.mountain-online.com, www.ocactus.com, where very helpful English speaking staff will store your boots and skis overnight for a very reasonable charge per week. The lift pass office is conveniently situated above the hire shop.

The Veysonnaz ski area also includes the resorts of Hautes Nendaz, and Siviez. Good skiers will be easily able to ski from the top of the Veysonnaz lift via Siviez to Verbier for lunch, and be back to the chalet in time for tea, or to the village in time for apres ski.

Siviez, 15-20 minutes by road from the Chalet, has a large car park and also connects to the whole system if you want to shorten the ski trip to Verbier.

From Thyon 2000 at the top of the Veysonnaz lift, there is over 400km of linked skiing to be enjoyed, including the famous Piste de l'ours, a former women’s down hill cup ski run, which is not as difficult as you might imagine. Piste de l'ours also has its own lift and large car park about 4-5 minutes by road beyond the Veysonnaz lift should the Veysonnaz car park get a bit too busy.

There are snow cannons on most key areas so good snow is assured on the approaches to the village at the end of the day.

Overall there is a good combination of blues, reds and some black runs. The resort is also excellent for family skiing with great ski school facilities.

The top station of Mont Fort (3300m) provides spectacular views of many of the highest peaks in the Alps as well as the opportunity to ski exciting reds or watch the experts descending one of the world’s classic black runs.
